The 2-part ERP Exam is designed to assess knowledge of the physical energy commodity and electricity markets, trading and structuring of financial energy contracts, and the tools required to identify, measure, and manage risk across the energy value chain. The ERP curriculum is guided by GARP’s Energy Oversight Committee (EOC) comprised of senior practitioners and academics with diverse backgrounds from across the energy industry.
Content
The ERP Part I exam is a 4-hour exam consisting of 80 multiple choice questions drawn from the following physical energy market topics:
- Introduction to Energy Commodities and Risk Management 10% 8 questions
- Crude Oil Markets and Refined Products 35% 28 questions
- Natural Gas and Coal Markets 25% 20 questions
- Electricity Markets and Renewable Generation 30% 24 questions
The ERP Exam Part II is a 4-hour exam consisting of 60 multiple choice questions drawn from the following financial energy market and risk management topics:
- Price Formation in Energy Markets 15% 9 questions
- Financial Energy Products 25% 15 questions
- Risk Management Tools 60% 36 questions
What are the requirements for ERP Certification?
- Pass the ERP Exam Part I
- Pass the ERP Exam Part II within 4 years of passing Part I
- Demonstrate 2 years of professional full-time energy risk related work experience
